Wireless networkWireless network

Wireless networks are growing in popularity due to the fact they are relatively inexpensive and easy to handle. They also enable you to go online wherever you are. If you use a wireless network, make sure it’s encrypted.

Encrypt internal networks
If you use a wireless network connecting several active computers in your home which share resources on the internal network, we recommend encrypting traffic on a wireless network if your network programme allows for this.

Use of public network access points
We recommend connecting only to access points that you trust. Access points may be bogus in order to retrieve personal information about you.

What can happen if you don’t encrypt a wireless network?
As wireless networks are standard programmes with a range that exceeds the walls of your home, any person can monitor traffic on your network and use your Internet connection via a portable computer. This is why it is always a good idea to encrypt traffic on a wireless network if your network programme allows for this.
