Switching your Personal Accounts from another financial institution to National Irish Bank is quick, easy and hassle free.
The first step is to become a customer where we will set up your new personal accounts with us.
National Irish Bank adheres to the Code of Conduct on the Switching of Current Accounts with Credit Institutions. This Code applies to current accounts held by consumers and that are denominated in Euro. For information on the Code, please click here.
To switch to us, all you have to do is:
STEP 1: OPEN A CURRENT ACCOUNT WITH US
If you wish to open an account with us, simply visit your preferred branch (an appointment may be necessary), bringing the following items with you:
- Photographic ID
- Proof of address
STEP 2: COMPLETE A SWITCHING FORM AND AGREE A DATE
The branch will give you a switching pack, assist you in completing the forms for account switching and agree a switching date. It should take no more than 10 working days to have your new current account fully operational from the date you have agreed the switching process will begin. If you have chosen to close your old account, the transfer from your old bank to National Irish Bank (including standing orders and direct debits domiciled within the Republic of Ireland*) should take no more than 7 working days from the date you have agreed that the switching process will begin.
For further information on the Personal Account Switching Code go to the Central Bank website.
*Please note, due to other obligations it may not be possible to transfer all direct debits and standing orders.
