As the name suggests, the interest rate you pay on a National Irish Bank variable rate home loan may change in line with any fluctuations in general interest rates. When interest rates go down, your monthly repayments do likewise. However when interest rates rise, your monthly repayments will increase too. You can also make lump sum repayments at any time without any penalty.

You may also be eligible to earn a preferential rate today by opening or switching to our Easy Plus or Prestige current account packages and earn up to 0.45% discount from our Home Loan Variable Rate*. Standard fees and charges will apply.

Easy Plus and Prestige Home Loan Discounts:

Eligibility for these discounts is limited to holders of a Prestige or Easy Plus Package. 

  • Customers with a Prestige package may be eligible for a discount of 0.45% of the applicable Home Loan Variable rate
  • Customers with an Easy Plus package may be eligible for a discount of 0.20% of the applicable Home Loan Variable rate.

Package maintenance fees apply.  Normal lending Terms and Conditions Apply. This Prestige and Easy Plus Home Loan Discount cannot be used with any other discount or preferential terms on the same Housing loan.  If, for any reason, the relevant Package Account is closed or a cessation of the payment of your salary into this account, the interest rate will revert to the prevailing Home Loan Variable Rate. For the avoidance of doubt, customers who have an ECB Tracker Rate or who are eligible to return to an ECB Tracker Rate during the lifetime of their loan will not be eligible for these discounts.
